Emily Hewett was born in Panama City, Florida but grew up in Las Vegas. From there, she went to college in Charlotte, NC and graduated from Johnson & Wales University where she received an Associate’s Degree in Culinary Arts and a Bachelor’s degree of Science in Food Service Management. Post-graduation, she moved to NYC to begin her career at Chobani. She is currently the Corporate Chef for Culinary Development and Events. She’s been a part of the Chobani family for almost 7 years now, starting out as a traveling chef for events while attending college and working as a Teaching Assistant in the culinary college.
While Chobani is based in NYC, Emily has returned to Charlotte, NC and works remotely, traveling frequently to Chobani’s multiple offices, cafés, yogurt plants, and widespread events. In addition to traveling the country representing Chobani at culinary events and trade shows, she also works closely with the Chobani cafes. She has represented Chobani as a USA sponsor at the Rio Olympics developing recipes for athletes and sponsors; worked at large tradeshows such as National Restaurant Association; partnered with the Culinary Institute of America, Food & Wine; and works closely with Chobani’s digital platforms to develop recipes for their social media accounts, website, and brand partnerships.
Outside of Chobani, she has completed an internship at Noma’s sister restaurant in Copenhagen, 108, where she honed her culinary skills and immersed herself into Nordic cuisine. Emily is also on the Alumni Associate Board for Hospitality Charitable Foundation based in Las Vegas. Emily joined HCF to be able to donate her time in the form of mentorship, culinary demonstrations, and other sort of support for upcoming culinarians. She offers her experiences as an example of the non-traditional path of a chef and what it can offer. Emily grew up in a huge blended family as the oldest with 3 sisters and 2 brothers, so her love of bringing joy to her family through food started at a young age.
In her free time, you might find Emily curled up with a good book, spending time with her closest friends testing new food and cocktail recipes, or enjoying outdoor activities. She loves road trips, traveling to new places, and finding karaoke spots at every stop (singing Cher always!).
